Goofing Off in Class
by Jaxon M.
Hello, my name is Jaxon Muskar, and today I was wondering how many people goof off in my favorite classes each day of school. First, I will interview Ms. Olivia, who is our English teacher; next, I will interview my math teacher, Mr. Joseph; finally, after that, I will interview my journalism teacher, Ms. Olivia again.
So, after interviewing my favorite teachers, I’ve come to the conclusion that my English teacher said that she has about 11/30 kids who goof off in her first-period class. This is unacceptable given that she is a good teacher and very kind to us. She also gives us all sorts of things like free time, free seating, mints, and all sorts of foods as prizes.
Now let's move on to my next class, which is my math class with Mr. Joseph. So after talking to Mr. Joseph about my article, he told me a summary of how many kids goof off in his class. He said around 15 kids goof off in his class for our class, since there are two eighth-grade classes. This is totally unacceptable, given that Mr. Joseph is awesome, kind, and grateful to have all of us.
My last class to do is Journalism with Ms. Olivia. She said that about 6 kids goof off in her journalism class since there are about 20 kids total. I don't think it's fair to any of the teachers, as they are kind and respectful. This is why we should be kinder and more caring toward teachers.
So after talking to my English teacher, she came up with good questions for this. One of her questions was, “How does goofing off affect your peers?” My answer to this question is that goofing off is not acceptable for 2 reasons. Reason number 1: goofing off may cause teachers/students to get annoyed and get angry at the entire class. Reason number 2: goofing off may also cause stress for teachers/students, and it may ruin their mood. This is why we should not goof off in class.
Another question I was asked is “How can we stop goofing off?” I have 1 way we could stop goofing off: my way is to just ask them to stop; if they don’t, then you should take their work and wait until they respect you to give it back. For my peers, I could step up and ask them to stop because they always listen to my loud voice.
