Neptune’s Diner

by Benicio D.

This month's hidden gem is the place known as Neptune's. Neptune’s is a diner that opened its doors in August of 2017. Neptune's is located on Central Ave on the south side of Alameda. I hope that people who read this get to experience Neptune's Filipino and Californian style of food after reading this.

BREAKFAST

Neptune's has multiple items for breakfast, which include the simple, yet iconic, avocado toast starting at $12, which may seem like a ripoff (I thought so too when I looked at the page), but the avocado toast also comes with radish and pea shoots with basil oil. There are also acai bowls that have many different kinds of fruit in them, along with granola and honey to make it sweet. Finally, we have my personal favorite breakfast option, Neptune's breakfast burrito, which comes with a choice of bacon or chorizo, eggs and cheese, and a side of homemade fries for only $15.75. Personally, I prefer the bacon option because i like the saltier taste of it compared to chorizo.

LUNCH
Lunch offers many options, even more than the breakfast menu. One of these, which is my second favorite, is the wagyu loco moco, which has two smash patties, eggs, radish, and fried rice with some brekkie sauce, all of which costs $17. In case you want something healthier, Neptune's also offers 3 different kinds of salads, with one of them called the market salad. The market salad consists of mixed greens, carrots, fennel, seasonal fruit, pumpkin seeds, and some ricotta toast.

Conclusion

Neptune's Diner has been a personal favourite since my dad took me there. Its amazing menu has brought me joy, and I hope you will too. I hope readers get to experience Neptune's Filipino-Californian style of food after reading this.
