Road to D.C.
by Juliet M.
Did you hear about the Washington, D. C. field trip? Well, now you have! It’s a bonding moment for the eighth graders, with educational experiences and opportunities to meet students all over the country. We will also be learning about the history of the U.S. and the rights of modern-day citizens. We have this annual 8th-grade D.C. trip coming up over Spring Break, from April 4 to April 8.
What's the most important thing to know? How much will this trip cost? Well, luckily for us, we have a variety of fundraisers to help with the cost! The original price is $2,390(a lot of money). Every month we will have around two fundraisers. By the field trip, around twelve or fourteen fundraisers will take place. One of the fundraisers we already had was a car wash on Third Street(in Alameda). We are planning to have every fundraiser in Alameda, which keeps it local, so more students and families can be involved. Some of the fundraisers will be at different food places in Landing, such as Jollibee, where the earlier 6th grade fundraiser was, or in front of the school. Student volunteers may be required for certain fundraisers, so make sure to check your schedule if you want to participate and help out! Make sure to keep an eye out for emails announcing the next fundraiser! Having said that, I am looking forward to seeing all the students who are going to be coming to D.C.!
