Shows for Teens

by Andie J.

What are some shows that teens are watching? Why are they good? Why would someone want to watch a show? Well, I went on a search to find out. I googled the top shows for teens, and here’s what I found.  The shows that are the most watched/ popular are Stranger Things, The Summer I Turned Pretty (TSITP), Heartstopper, Wednesday, and Gossip Girl.

“I think those are great shows and very popular with teens. I think Gossip Girl is a very enjoyable show. I really liked the 2000s NYC vibe and most of the plotlines. Stranger Things is my favourite out of the 5 shows. And I also really enjoyed seasons 2 and 3 the most. I also did like Wednesday, but it’s not as fresh in my mind as the other shows. Same with TSITP.” Jaicee, 8th grade.

“I think Stranger Things is very interesting, intriguing, and cool. It is also pretty long, so you have to be really concentrated and pay attention to understand everything that is happening. I have never watched TSITP, and I have also never watched Heartstopper. I think Wednesday is pretty good because it is very suspenseful and intriguing. It kind of feels like you are trying to solve a murder case or investigate something, which makes it really interesting to watch. I have also never watched Gossip Girl, but I have heard a lot about it and might watch it someday.” Jaxon, 8th grade.

“Stranger Things is interesting even though some parts don’t make sense. I’ve never watched TSITP, nor have I read it. I love Heartstopper. It has the perfect balance of cuteness and freakiness, and I’ve never watched gossip girls, but it’s number one on my watchlist.” TJ, 8th Grade.

“I watched the first episode [of Heartstopper] and hated it. The Summer I Turned Pretty felt overhyped, but I enjoyed the internet discourse and memes that came from it. The third was phenomenal, with a great cast, although I felt they made Charlie a little too needy. I loved the first season of the fourth, but I thought the second season felt flat and rushed. As for the fifth: tea, no notes.” Jewel, 8th Grade

“I’ve never watched Stranger Things, but it seems like a cool show, just not the kind I’d watch. I loved Heartstopper; it was such a good book and so cute. I also liked Wednesday with all of its plot twists. And finally, I don’t think I’ve ever watched Gossip Girl, and I don’t know a lot about it, so…” Lexi, 8th Grade.

In conclusion, I now understand why these shows are so popular and well-loved. Teens like shows with action, romance and something that keeps you engaged. With this in mind, thank you very much for coming to my TED Talk.
